The identification ladder is not an edibility clearance

Nothing on this site states or implies that any fungus is safe to eat, and no page describes preparation of any fungus for food. A tier of T0 records that no toxin of the relevant class has been documented for the species — it is not a statement that the species is edible, and it is not a guarantee that every specimen of that species is free of toxin.

A tier of T1, T2 or T3 records the class of harm that has been documented. It is not a prognosis. Individual outcomes depend on the quantity eaten, the state of the eater, the time to treatment and factors that are not recorded here.

Identification of fungi from any reference work, including this one, is provisional and can be wrong; it must be confirmed against the specimen in front of you.
